* lover's food is the love of bread,
not the bread. No one who really loves,
loves existence.

* For years I pulled my own existence out of emptiness.
Then one swoop, one swing of the arm,
that work is over.
Free of who I was, free of presence, free of
dangerous fear, hope,
free of mountainous wanting.

The here-and-now mountain is a tiny piece of a piece
of straw
blown off into emptiness.

* Be melting snow.
Wash yourself of yourself.

* Drink all your passion,
and be a disgrace.

Close both eyes
to see with the other eye.

Open your hands,
if you want to be held.

Sit down in this circle.

* Knowledge should mean a full grasp of knowledge.

Knowledge means to know yourself, heart and soul.

If you have failed to understand yourself,

Then all of your reading has missed its call.

What is the purpose of reading those books?

So that man can know the All-Powerful.

If you have read, but failed to understand,

Then your efforts are just a barren soul."

* A certain grammarian embarked in a boat. That self-conceited person turned to the boatman.

And said, 'Have you ever studied grammar?', 'No', he replied. The other said, 'half your life is gone to naught.' The boatman became heart-broken with grief, but at the time
he refrained from answering.

The wind cast the boat into a whirlpool: the boatman spoke loud (shouted) to the grammarian.

* Tell me, do you know how to swim?' 'No', said he, 'O fair-spoken good-looking-man!' 'O grammarian,' said he,' your whole life is naught, because the boat is sinking in these whirlpools.'

* amazing and beautiful! how do they do it?

* it is beautiful...if you sway to the music and let it enter your soul...you won't be dizzy!

*

* Wanted to add Rumi's/Balkhi's original poem in Dari/Farsi, it is so beautiful if you can read it. Its translation is given by orientflash:
بازآ بازآ هرآنچه هستی بازآ
گر کافر و گبر و بت پرستی بازآ
این درگه ما درگه نومیدی نیست
صد باز اگر توبه شکستی بازآ
