* It is hard to know who Yogananda is by watching this video. He is performing this wedding according to Vedic tradition and his talking with required intonation. One needs to read his work to get a glimpse of his mission. There you see his greatness, humility, and wisdom. No ordinary man could ever write what he wrote. Reading his words is a life-changing experience.

* Awesome! I read his Autobiography in 1985 and was deeply impressed by his songs, he is a real guru and a real master of yoga and bhakti! All glories to him!

* hey the sound didnt work, i wud appreciate if this video had sound. yogananda is eternal kriya yogi who showed that even mortal human body could shine after death, because of its pure conciousness of its dweller and kriya. get his message and we are rooted to awaken

* I think these videos do more harm than good. To an outsider this video is strange and seems cultish. But people who have read his biography know that Yogananda was a true master, a saint. He is my guru and I don't feel these videos give him any justice. They are very misleading to the common outsider.

* He is too theatrical. For a yogi he is too fat.

* Drvasudeva, I have two quotes for you:

1. From Aesop: "Beware, lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow."

2. From the Talmud: "We see others not as they are, but as we are."

* How come all these indian godmen & gurus are all still 6' under the ground? Because there is only one who has power over life and death and He is the King of King and Lord of Lords and His name is Jesus Christ "Many will come in His name and decieve many"

* That shows how much you know about the metaphysical. No one is 6 feet under the ground. The body is not the soul. And all the Masters can be contacted in the Astral Plane. Yogananda appears to many.

* I think that quote applies to those who claim to preach the word of God but do not themselves embody the compassion or virtue of Jesus Christ.

* That was in response to caucazhin's reference that 'many will come in his name an deceive many'. I just got his autobiography from Amazon. It's very good.

* I've been affiliated with SRF for 25 years and have never found it to be anything other than truly beautiful, authentic and honest.

* the lack of music and the word/caption card at the opening indicate that this was shot during one of his early tours between the end of the war and the "Rashid" disaster when they went temporarily bankrupt due to mismanagemnent of his tour funds in the 30s.

* lovely video. however, yogananda was born in 1893, not 1853 as it says in your first frame. according to your dates, that would have made him 99 years old at the time of his mahasamadhi!

Immortality in the body is not liberation.
All the great Masters tell us to find our Guru. The path begins when we find the Guru.
Don't stop looking until you have found yours.
:) And good luck. You shouldn't have to wait too long.

* In this one message I have learne a great deal. You are angry, very angry. And you want to take that anger out on Gurus who are only the servants of mankind (true gurus). Where do you think all the wisdom came from? It didn't fall from the sky. Gurus ie Realizers- that's where it came from. And they told how they realized. They surrendered to a Realizer. Your ego finds that repulsive. No shock in that.

Yogananda and the other great Masters, taught that you must also test the Guru.
Did you know that? No True Master would recommend blind belief. I personally wouldn't put the pope in the same category as Yogananda. The Pope is an elected official not a realizer. See the difference?

* What you may not have know was that He knew He was departing. He didn't just grab His chest and die of a freak heart attack.
Read His autobiography before you say anymore.

Unfit for what? Racing? Boxing? He was fit enough for Love.
Let me ask you. what is your problem with Yogananda? What did He do to you that makes you have such a low view of Him?

* Hey london, seriously relax. i am not a devotee of Yogananda. I did read His book many years ago. What the institution did after He died I don't know. it is run by egos afterall and as my Guru says, 'Dead Gurus don't kick ass".

* This great Guru DID know his life was coming to an end. He even predicted that he would "Die with his boots on." In otherwords, he knew that he would die that day while giving a talk.

All one needs to do is listen to Daya Ma's audio tapes. She discusses in detail what happened that sad day.
