Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva - Art Troupe performance

This is a video of 21 members of the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe performing the Thousand-hand Bodhisattva dance; the members are all deaf. more on troop.

A very well choreographed dance, what is amazing and at the same time saddening is the the information given by the one who uploaded the video on the you tube. The information of the performers being deaf. How much effort they must have to put for this show, and the watcher of the show enjoys this with the music.

Some selected comments from the you tube to tell you what people think and feel about this video

*
To Gianlim and others--deaf people are just about the only handicapped people that manage to survive birth in China--the government kills the visibly handicapped babies(trained midwives)and sterilizes the mothers. My neighbor headed a delegation of British doctors who traveled to China in 1994 to ask them to stop doing that. Not successful.

* Reminds me of one of those mass gymnastic shows they do in North Korea and used to do (maybe still do) in countries such as in Russia. But this is on a smaller scale. Very impressive.

* How beautiful! I can fully appreciate the training that must have gone into this dance.

* so touching...
i cant find words to describe this video

* Stunning! Talent, dedication, commitment. Incomparable.

* Incredibly beautiful...one of our local radio stations posted this on their website.

* Very aesthetic & beautiful !
Hard to believe that these gifted artists are deaf.
Thank you for this fantastic video.

* It is my understanding that all of these performers are handicapped in some way. The troupe was formed by a Chinese man that wanted to help them to be known as 'performers' not by the negative label as 'handicapped' The director is in the process of producing DVD of this troupe's work.

* amazing! it looks so cool i did get kinda freaked at the beginning with all the hands though haha! anw it's hard enough to dance while keeping in sync just by listening to the beat of the music yet they can do it without being able to hear the music wow..

* Great!!! never seen nothing like that before now. Ciao from Rome

* I saw this when i was in xiaman, china last year. It is so much better live. Bloody awsome!

* Personally, I do not regret spending the $180 bucks on this performance. This group of physically disabled artists are going to travel to the U.S. some time in September 2007. Those who are really keen to watch this and along with other different shows they are performing should somehow find out the place and time. So keep an eye out for this life-changing performance!

* Stunningly beautiful. This is a combination of Buddhist and traditional Chinese culture, creating a peace of mind that we all need. I have seen this show live, which was even more spectacular than seen on TV. The performance in this video was broadcasted on China Central Television on the eve of the Chinese New Year in 2005. Many audience became so emotionally touched and awed by this beauty that they sat in their seats, unable to move as if all were frozen by this spell-binding performance.

* This is a Chinese Dance also known as The Thousand Hand Guanyin.I will tell you all about the truth of this show. It's unbelievable that all of performers are Deaf, you can see their teacher beside the stage.And some of them are the man.

* Iv never seen something so royally beautiful before. It's so wonderful that eludes any evaluation of its art, one has to watch it oneself to experience its irresistible beauty.

* oh my god this is simple one of the most superlativly magnificant thing ive seen in dance in my life, the precision is superb.

* This is one of the most astoundingly beautiful things I've ever seen. Just completely amazing in every single way.
